Kobelco Steelers have made further reinforcements, this time to their coaching staff, ahead of the 2018-19 Top League season.
In-demand coach Wayne Smith, who coached the All Blacks to back-to-back Rugby World Cup titles, has joined the Kobe club as Director of Rugby for the upcoming Top League campaign. Dave Dillon will be the side's head coach this season.
After last year announcing the acquisition of All Blacks legend Dan Carter, they last week confirmed the signings of past and present Highlanders trio Hayden Parker, Tom Franklin and Richard Buckman.
Experienced Japan and Suntory Sungoliath scrum half Atsushi Hiwasa will also link up with Steelers from next season, along with Kubota and Sunwolves lock Grant Hattingh. Toshiba's Kentaro Kodama has also put pent to paper for Kobe.
